do you be yourself, cover up the break up, be best self or the way you feel…..dunno but lack the energy to pretend.
First, by all means go on a date and make some new friends. Second, take the advice of the guys who answered before me and be yourself. You are under no obligation to tell anyone anything about yourself that you don’t feel comfortable talking about. There are a whole bunch of gentleman out there who are just waiting for you to come along.
Third, there is a man, in Japan I believe, that just turned 113, now he is OLD! You are not old at all. I think you should consider changing your name to "Young and Sassy" or something along those lines. You are too great a person to be calling yourself "old". When you catch up to me in age you can drop the "young and" and just go by "Sassy". lol Get out there. Good luck Bowie.

I would not compare this person to your last person.
I wouldn’t really go into your past until you know this
person. On a first date, I would keep it casual and just
be yourself. I would try and find out what you can about
this person and then tell him about yourself. You can
tell him that you are coming out of a break-up, but don’t
go into it just yet. You can always say, let’s leave that for
another time. Not unless he really wants to know, but
usually on your first date, you want to know what the person
is like.
Try and be positve and not think of your ex.
Be yourself.

It is quite simple, just make sure that the new guy likes you for real, that’s it. You don’t have to pretend anything either. And there is no need to cover the break up, just don’t talk about it or don’t mention it unless he asks. You don’t want to make him think that he is the "rebound" date, so just don’t mention it unless he wants to know.
